Kamia Asked:
I am considering which steam generator irons to buy but I can’t find out what is the major difference in a pressurised or non-pressurised steam generator. Can anyone out there enlighten me or advise me on what features to look for in one?
Reply:
Pressurized steam is hotter steam. Water boils at 212F at normal air pressures. When you raise the pressure 3 lb (typical steam iron pressure), the boiling point increases 9F. Thus, the steam will be 9F hotter. They are considerably more expensive.
Car radiators are pressurized to 15lbs, raising the boiling point of the water to about 256F.

Bambam Asked:
What is the best steam commercial iron press in market currently?
REply:
Rowenta brand is the best, but you might have to take out a second mortgage to afford one. No one should have to pay that much for an iron.

Farah Asked:
How can I fix my ironing presses? When I turned it on there was smoke and thereafter it did not work.
Reply:
It may be that the heating element burned up, in which case you will probably have to buy a new ironing presses. However, if you are lucky, it may just be that the connection between the power cord and the inside wiring came loose, causing a high resistance spot that heated up. If this is what happened, you may be able to make a repair using a crimp connector of the sort found in an automotive supply store. If you have an ohmmeter, or know someone with an ohmmeter, it is fairly easy to make a diagnosis. Perhaps your auto mechanic would do it as a favor.
