After ironing shirts yourself or having them pressed at the dry cleaners, button marks appear in placed where the hard surface of the button is behind a piece of the material. Is there any way to get rid of these marks?

I am making a Deadmau5 mask (google it if you don't know) and I am currently trying to figure out to how glue the felt on without visible creases. My friend suggested ironing it but he nor I were sure of the outcome. Can anyone tell me if ironing the felt would make it more flexible or just tear it up. And if anyone has any ideas on how to get it on there, all help is appreciated.
