put white vinegar in it, then steam it as hard as you can, on an old sheet or something, drain it, and only use distilled water in it . if one steaming and draining doesnt do the job, do it again. good luck.

fill it with Vinegar and let it sit overnight flat on tray with a bit of vinegar to get into the holes about 1/8th of an inch deep maximum (no more) as it will get into wires. Then iron an old rag when you dump out vinegar and fill with clean water to clear the holes out...works just like CLR and a lot cheaper too..

use pure vinegar, run it through your iron about three times and then use plain water, that will clean any brown stains out and make it clean again.

Ok everyone has the right track with the vinegar, but in order to prevent it from happening again, only use distilled water in your iron.

sounds like your Iron is rusting on the inside (it shouldn't) You can clean it with household vinegar. Fill it and leave it overnight. It won't get rid of rust though

I have filled mine with vinegar and water and let set overnight then in the morning plug in the iron and get an old towel and press the steam and you will see all the rust come out..You may have to do this a couple of times. Also make sure after ironing to empty the rest of the water out of the iron. This is what causes it to rust..Also buy distilled water @ the market to use in your steam iron. Hope this helps you!!
