Is is normal for my Rowenta iron cord to get hot?
Rosemarie Asked:
Whenever I iron my clothes the rowenta iron cord near the plug gets hot. I tried using another iron and that ones cord also warms up near the plug. Is there something wrong with my outlets or is it normal for the cord to seem warm/hot? I’ve used this iron for a year in that same outlet without any problems. I’m confused. Please help if you can.
Reply:
An iron draws in much electricity so it can heat up to a hot temperature. The cord might get warm, but if it is very warm or hot it can be a fire hazard. You should try another outlet and if that doesn’t make a difference then you might need to replace your iron(s). I use my iron occasionally at the hottest level and the cord is never hot.
