Is it possible to press short hair like hair which is 1 inch long or 2 inches long with a 2 inch flat iron?

is there another method where i can get my roots of my hair straight, without pressing, relaxing and flat ironing the hair all the time. Can someone please tell me if this could be done, and all the products and stuff that i would need. I would get my hair relaxed every 6 weeks, but sometimes between the weeks i have to wash my hair and the roots become kinky. Thank you
