i like my black and decker iron… it isn’t that expensive and i’ve had it for years and i do a lot of ironing… it has never let me down!!!
The best iron I have ever had is the Rowenta Professional Luxe. It steams beautifully and the bottom is stainless steel, not the awful teflon. It stays clean and irons just great. I quilt a lot and use it constantly. I bought mine at Costco because it is a bit pricey, but I’ve seen them at Joann’s as well. It’s well worth the money. I think you can also get the Rowenta Professional press which might be more convenient if you have a lot to do. Either way, any Rowenta is quality.
http://www.rowenta.com They also have irons that sit on steam generators.
Why on EARTH does anyone in today’s world iron sheets! If you have time for that, you need a life!! C’mon, even hotels don’t iron their sheets anymore. I DO believe you need to use quality sheets, like 300-400 thread count, but honestly, that’s way too fussy!
You don’t want an iron. You’ll be ironing for 3 days a week. What you are looking for is a mangel. Hospitals and hotels use them. They come in table top size, and full unit. You can almost iron the whole sheet with one press. I would try ebay or the yellow pages. If you still can’t find one, call a hopital or hotel. They will have the expensive commercial models, but they will be able to direct you to a manufacturer.
rowenta is the best in irons with out going industrial, they are pricey but they last (some stores that carry them ie: bed bath and beyond as well as linens-n-things have coupons you can use on them). I learned about rowenta when working in a home store. I was in charge of making display beds and it is what we used on the sheets, bedskits and etc (and in retail eveything must look perfect). I loved using it at work so much I went out and got one for my self.
